A graduate of 1969 from Liaquat Medical College started his practice as an ENT specialist on his return from London in 1982. He obtained his Post graduate diploma from the Royal College of Surgeons London, united kingdom in 1978. He is a member of the college of physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan. He is a fellow of the International College of Surgeons and a member of Royal Society of London.
Dr. Fasih Ullah Mir is the first Pakistani Surgeon to perform the first Cochlear Implant Surgery on a child with total deafness.
Dr. Fasih Ullah Mir is also one of the pioneers of the Endoscopic Sinus Surgery in Pakistan.
Cochlear Implant surgery :
Dr. Fasih Ullah Mir is the first Pakistani Surgeon to perform cochlear implant surgery on a child with total deafness.
The successful result was presented along with the patient’s demonstration of hearing and response to mobile phone in a ENT conference.
The cochlear implant program is successfully progressing at Dr Fasih’s ENT & General Hospital at Kalaboard , Malir Karachi.
FESS (Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery & Balloon Sinuplasty ):
Dr Fasihullah Mir is one of the pioneers of FESS ( functional endoscopic sinus surgery) in Pakistan.
The use of endoscopes allows for precise visualization of the opening of the sinuses allowing the surgeon to open the sinuses ostia (opening ) whereas with the old technique the opening were artifically made.
Combined with the use of balloon sinuplasty, it allows for no cuts to be made to open up the natural sinus opening as compared with traditional surgical methods.
Use of FESS & Balloon Sinuplasty results in much higher success rates of and quicker recovery as compared with traditional methods.
Laser surgery:
Dr Fasih Ullah Mir is one of the pioneers of laser surgery in Pakistan.
Laser produces excellent hemostatic effects resulting in minimal or no bleeding resulting in quicker recovery due to this unique property .
